Budget season is upon us!
Spring is almost here and with that Charlotte Valley’s budget season returns similar to baseball and softball. The year’s budget again will be under the 3.7% tax cap established by the State. In this year’s budget we will be purchasing a new 66 passenger bus, Chevy Traverse, adding a 2nd Pre K, adding a full time school psychologist, and again proposing a $100,000 capital outlay project to address flooring issues in the elementary school.
This year’s budget also begins the repayment of the voter approved building project that is slated for completion by June of 2020. With all that and the addition of a STEM summer camp and an investment into robotics we have kept your tax levy increase at 1.9%. The biggest expenses are the one time purchases that drive the increases along with the debt service payments for the project. The Board of Education has made a commitment to investing in your school and well as providing academic opportunities to enhance your student’s education. We feel that this is a responsible budget and allows for some flexibility in the coming years. As of today, we have 424 students who eat breakfast and lunch at CVCS. We again provide free breakfast and lunch to every one of those students. That is a tremendous savings to each and every household. Good things are happening in the Valley!!! Please come out and vote Tuesday May 21st and support your community’s children
The next budget hearing is March 26th at 6:30 pm. Hope to see you there!!!
Read with your child every day and ask “What was the best part of your day?”
